What do men talk about when they are alone?

There is a saying “A Man is king, a Man is god, but Man is always at women`s feet”. What do men speak about in purely man-to-man talks? I thought, men generally speak about women, I guess most women think so. But probably we overestimate our influence on men and think about ourselves too much, as it turns that men do not share secrets about their private life. To investigate this problem I was to question 20 boys and gather the statistics.

The first question due to the frequency of discussion is entertainment. The age does not matter. Boys, men can have a chat about all kinds of amusement. Usually man`s talk starts with such question: “How did you carouse last time?”. Starting with this point a theme of a talk can get different ways. Men talk about films, sport, music, anything. Moreover men are good in boasting. The subjects of boasting are usually “men's toys” – phones, cars, gain of the last level in computer game, everything, that makes them proud of themselves. Of course, these talks can never stop.

Next topic is girls. They are the main subject for discussion for boys at the age between 14 and 22 years. All the conversations reduce to consideration of girls` appearance, habits and so on. Adult men, on the contrary, talk about women, but not about their ones. They can discuss a friend`s girl or ex-girlfriend. But they do not like to “wash their dirty linen in public”. Maybe it infringes upon women`s self-respect to some extend but, if to think deeper, private life really concerns only 2 people.

Boys speak about studying, especially if something is not the way they want it to be. Usually, it deals with examinations, tests, some assignments.

Job is another important part of discussion for boys of 18 years and older. Males of 18-22 years as a rule just starts to work, so their chats concern that it would be nice to work or where to earn some money for entertainment. For those, who graduated from the institute, job is the main business. Moreover, at this age men start to think about family and its support. Job occupies the biggest part of their life that is why they feel necessity to speak about it.

Men as the representatives of “a stronger sex” are supposed to talk about some highest substances and matters of universal character. But it appears that the topics for discussion are very simple and usual. Having carried out this investigation I came to the conclusion that men talk not only about women and fun, but a great part of the conversations is taken by job, institute. And this changed my opinion about men for better.
